The Dawn of Creation
World of Warcraft wasn't just a game for me, it was a universe where imagination came to life. From 2008, immersed in the TBC and WotLK expansions, I discovered a devouring passion for Azeroth. But beyond simply playing, I felt the need to create, to build something unique.
Without knowing the slightest algorithm, with limited academic skills in computer science, I set up my own private server with TrinityCore. It was a colossal challenge: server configuration, MySQL database management, LUA scripting... Everything was new, but the desire to create a world for other players was stronger than the technical obstacles.
StrikeHotel: My First Creation
Habbo Hotel was more than just a social game for me - it was a school of creativity and management. In 2010, fascinated by the idea of creating my own virtual universe, I launched StrikeHotel, my first real large-scale project.
Without technical training, I learned on the job: source code management, database manipulation, website creation. Every obstacle was a lesson, every bug solved a victory. It was my first step towards programming, guided only by the passion to create.
The School of Scripting
GTA San Andreas was no longer just a game when I discovered SA:MP. This multiplayer mod opened the doors to a new world: that of Pawn scripting. Here, I learned the basics of event-driven programming, algorithmic logic.
Creating custom gamemodes, faction systems, virtual economy... Every line of code was a learning experience. My servers attracted hundreds of players, proof that creative instinct can compensate for lack of academic training.
The Universe of Infinite Possibilities
Minecraft came as a revelation: a world where the only limit was imagination. This game reinforced my taste for creation and construction, skills that would prove crucial in my future career as a developer.
Server management, Bukkit plugins, custom world creation... Minecraft taught me that technology is just a tool in service of creativity.
The School of Precision
Counter-Strike 1.6 taught me rigor, precision and the importance of detail. Every millisecond counts, every decision has consequences - precious lessons for a future developer.
Beyond the game, I explored map creation with Hammer Editor, discovering the joys of modeling and level design.
VCD-300: The Original Spark
Long before modern consoles, there was the VCD-300. Between 2000 and 2003, this simple CD, filled with 8-bit games, was my very first gateway into the world of video games. It was a raw, simple experience, but one that planted the seed of curiosity and passion.
Years later, out of nostalgia and to take on a technical challenge, I decided to preserve this memory. I recreated the VCD-300 experience from A to Z using modern web technologies, a project that merged my childhood passion with my development skills.
